Support Your Association!
May 01, 2003 --
It's Spring!
Even in the Puget Sound, the sun is shining, and so one's thoughts naturally turn to how you can be more active in support of the alumni association, right? Good!
Right now, there are three ways you can help financially, and more ways you can help by participating.
Subscription to the association is only $19 per year. The money helps defray the cost of this site, which is running on a professional magazine publishing system designed to survive the founders and become a resource far into the future.
- Big, Colorful, Bold Type
- See your name in lights. Member's directory listings are emphasized. Show 'em you care.
Membership is free when you use either of the following services.
Our ISP, ContribuNet offers dial access to the 'net for only $16.95 per month. Of that, FIVE DOLLARS PER MONTH IS DONATED to TCHS Alumni Dollars for Scholars, our scholarship fund. Established at the beginning of this year, our DFS chapter intends to develop funds for distribution in 2004, along with a permanent, growing endowment with the unambiguous goal of eventually guaranteeing post-high school funding for every graduate. Ambitious? You bet! Possible? Yes, but only with your participation. Help now by using ContribuNet. Instant signup, low cost, predictable service. We've been using it for a year. Click the ContribuNet link in the Table of Contents for details.
A personal, family or small business web site is a great way to have fun and publish your stories, pictures and other information on the Web. No technical skills are required. Service starts at only $10 per month, of which $5 is donated to the scholarship fund. Click Alumni Sites above center for details.
As to participation, you can be the editor of a class site, complete with newsletter, calendar and guestbook for only $10/month. The average class has about 400 members; so go ahead, ask each one for 2.5 cents. Write to the editor for details.
Tell your friends to register. Our goal is to find and register all 15,000 graduates. Register your friends; they'll thank you. (Just be sure you spell names right; please don't register unless you have complete and current contact info, including email address.)
Send News! Fascinating as our editors are, they can't provide all the stories that you can.
Participate in the Forums. Right now, a separate registration is required, but we're working on that. Start a discussion of your own, or participate in an ongoing one.
Frankly, sending $ to classmates.com or other generic sites for the benefit of looking at incessant popup ads will never produce any benefit for TCHS alumni. AOL/TimeWarner don't really need your money; you can put it to work for your friends and relatives instead.
