Vandals Flood TCHS Gym, Ruin Court Floor
May 23, 2003 --
Bonnie (Wolf) Diener, class of '68, reports (5/23) that the TCHS gym was vandalized recently and that the wood floor was completely flooded. The estimated cost to replace the main floor is $300,000.
UPDATE 6/2/03--We've received some corrections to the gym flood story reported earlier. It appears that the story as repeated was incomplete. The event was reported in the May 20 issue of the Pasadena Star News, or on the website www.pasadenastarnews.com. The headline of the story is "Repairs under way at school gymnasium damaged by water." The damage was done in April not in May. According to the SN, much of the damage is covered by insurance and the school district's liability may be limited to the deductible under the policy.
We should perhaps be more persnickety. We plead distance.

I read the Star News and it's sister paper religiously every day and have not seen a word about this! What a disaster. My cousin-in-law is the athletic director. Will find out first hand from him and report back. Is this yet another case of Temple City keeping crime out of the news? They've been doing it for years. Remember only hearing about things happening because my mother worked at City Hall. |

How many remember Sock Hops on the gym floor so as not to mess up the surface with our street shoes. |
