Summer Job Available for TC Student, Alumnus, Home-based Worker
Jun 17, 2003 --
TCHS Alumni News is looking for one or more local sales reps and/or reporters in Temple City. Because our staff is spread around the US, we're not seeing what you see locally. We need help. You can participate as an independent web services reseller or as a reporter.
Sell TCHS Alumni News Services
TCHS Alumni News offers directory listings, inline advertising, and comprehensive web sites. You can be a local distributor of these services as an independent sales representative.
You must be qualified to work independently; this is not a salaried position. Qualifications include basic English composition and a willingness to solicit business from local companies. General familiarity with the capabilities of the WWW are required, but no special skills beyond filling out online forms are needed. (This is also a good opportunity for a home-based worker.)
Tasks:
- Create Directory Listings
- Our directory is much like telephone yellow pages. Collect customer info and create an online listing. Split revenue with the association.
- Create Online Ads
- Directory listings can be complemented by banner ads and by online brochures. This is a high-value service.
- Create Web Sites
- Use our Sitemaker template to create web sites for local businesses. It's all done by copy and paste, drag and drop and point, click, publish. (Some knowledge of word processing and basic photo editing is desirable.)
Work Independently: The basic financial relationship is that you contribute a portion of revenue to the association. The actual work you do is provided under your own name directly to your own clients. Our tools make it easy for you to make your clients look good on the Web.
We probably won't deliver your first million, but you won't have to ask your clients if they want fries with their order. The skills you'll acquire building an online web presence for local companies will benefit you, your local business clients, and your fellow alumni. You'll also get your own professional web site while you're actively working with TCHS Alumni News.
For more information, write to sales@tchsalumni.org; include your contact information.
Send News
If you're a currently enrolled TCHS student or recent graduate, we'd like to have you keep us posted on community events. We need stories on campus activities, sports, clubs, etc.
This is a volunteer opportunity. It's a great talking point on your resume or college application.
No technical skills are required; just send your stories by email to the editor, or use our Send News link. We'll give you full credit, and stories that go beyond what we might otherwise get as press releases will earn you a by-line. (If you can include digital photos, so much the better. Journalism students are especially encouraged.)
