Get 'cher red-hot email deal!

Oct 15, 2003 -- Alumni can now obtain a permanent alumni address from TCHS Alumni News. Now there's no reason to get lost when you change ISPs or mailbox names.

Recent mailings from our automated member contact forms or from the editor to readers - about five percent of which have come back undeliverable (see box) - make it clear that there's a need for better email services to readers.

We've created a simple procedure to get a permanent TCHS Alumni email address. No, it's not free, BUT when you subscribe for only one year to TCHS Alumni News Assn. (see link below) you now have the option to request a permanent address. You do not need to continue your subscription after the first year to keep your address (which is not to say we won't try to provide services that will make you want to renew).

You do not need to change ISPs, and you can also keep your regular email address. Your new address will work in parallel with other addresses you use.

The form of your address must be first_name.last_name.class_year@tchsalumni.org, and it must approximate your name as registered in the alumni directory (to help keep your editor sane). Turnaround time to set up your account is about three business days for this manual process.

Once established, all you need to do is to create a new account in your email client (the program you use to read your mail) with our server and your new mailbox. Then every time your mail client checks your mail it will see if there's new alumni mail, too.

We'll also change your alumni directory listing to use the new address for your contact form.

Your email address will not be published, so unless you give out your address, you should not get any unwanted mail from third parties, as all our mailing services are "double blind" to maintain your privacy. We hold our own mailings to a minimum, limiting them to special events, reunions and announcements of TCHS Alumni News features and services.

Here's how we'll use the money: We incur certain expenses to publish the magazine and maintain the directory. Net of those expenses, all donations accrue to the scholarship fund of TCHS Alumni Dollars for Scholars.

This is a great way to help build our scholarship fund and not get lost if you change ISPs or come up with a even more clever email monicker than the one you're using now (we're still chortling at some of your clever plays on words, oh yes).
