  20. Tan Shoes with Pink Shoelaces, Dodie Stevens
One who comes to mind is Dodie Stevens (or Geri Pasquale as she is recorded in the school district annals).

Her career as child star began at age eight, and she became internationally known in 1959 with her hit single, "Tan Shoes with Pink Shoelaces," which rose to #3 among popular songs in April of '59, while she was in the 8th grade at Oak Avenue School.

With the gift of an adult voice as a teenager, she made many other popular records, some of which had ranked hits on both sides of the old 45s.

TC had a substantial musical tradition, and Geri/Dodie often lent her professional status to student talent shows and campus events. One wonders if the "handlers" of today's youthful performers would allow children to be children. Forgive us if we think then was better. -RC
