Stadium to be Rededicated honoring Coach, Principal
Jul 15, 2004 -- Duffy Brook '63 writes...To Anyone Whose Life was Touched by Bob Hitchcock, Temple City High Coach: In October, the Temple City Unified School District will celebrate its’ 50th Anniversary with a Reunion for all 50 classes. It will be a three day event beginning with the Temple City High School’s Homecoming football game on Friday evening, October 15th and ending with a special luncheon on Sunday afternoon honoring Temple City High Schools’ Top 50 Graduates. Recently, the members of the School Board announced that the high school football stadium be officially named "Bob Hitchcock Stadium at Arthur H. North Field" in honor of Mr. Hitchcock and founding principal Arthur North, who will be present. This is being done to honor a man who touched the lives of so many young men not only as a coach, but a father figure, a mentor, a motivator, and a friend. At the same time, creating a winning tradition in Temple City that has been matched by only a couple of coaches in the history of California high school football. The dedication of the naming of the stadium will take place immediately following the conclusion of the Homecoming game on Friday evening. Considering all that Coach Hitchcock and his staff gave to the community, it would be a fitting to have a grand turnout for the game and dedication. Hopefully, we’ll see you there. We are in the process of creating a “Memory Book” to be presented to Bob on Saturday afternoon (Oct. 16th), as a part of the Reunion festivities at the High School. It will include a section for each of the 22 teams coached by Bob and his staff. Here is where you can help make it even more special. . . . . if you feel Bob and his staff touched your life and would like to send a note, letter, email or a congratulatory card, please do so. We would like to give back to Bob just a little or what gave to all of us. If you want to send a typed or handwritten letter, please use no more than the front of one 8 _ x 11 piece of stationery. Your responses can be sent to: Duffy Brook 52 Chapital San Clemente, CA 92672 OR email your message to duffyb345 @ yahoo.com (spacing in email address reduces spam; simply copy, delete, send) In order to have enough time to assemble the Memory Book, we will need your notes, letters, etc. by September 1st. I have researched the annuals for the names of all those who played for Coach Hitchcock over the 22 yrs. but have been able to find only a small number of email addresses.
