Alumnus Builds Photo Album for School District Anniversary

Sep 11, 2004 -- We recently received the following communication from Eric Bauer '83, who plans to compile a photo exhibit for the TC schools anniversary October 15. He has set out an ambitious goal for himself. We think it's worth a look. Contact Eric via the link below the letter.

Dear Friends,

My name is Eric Bauer (TCHS '83), and I am gathering photos to be part of a montage video to be shown at the TCUSD Golden Jubilee luncheon on October 17. The video will primarily consist of still photos and be set to music spanning the 50 years of Temple City schools. It will be similar to a video I put together for my recent 20-year reunion (and was quite well received) but this project is much more daunting because such a wide but necessary range of photos is a challenge to find (and then sort). So I am lost without your help.

If you have any school-related photos you can submit for scanning (especially those charm or character), please contact me. Likewise, if you know of anyone who might have a great deal of photos (e.g., the photographers or editors of your class's yearbook staff), contacting them on my behalf or forwarding me their contact information is greatly appreciated. I travel with a laptop and scanner and am happy to come out to you so long as you're located somewhere within the greater L.A. area. That said, it is more convenient to borrow and return pictures because the scanning process can be somewhat time consuming. (I do have an air-tight bookkeeping system to keep photos in order so you can rest easy knowing they're safe.)

Besides being presented at the luncheon, the video will be reproduced on DVD and can be purchased for a nominal charge. I do not mean to appear mercenary, but the effort and time required to make this happen takes away from other video- and film- related projects I would otherwise be focused on. That said, a portion of the proceeds will go toward a scholarship fund benefiting TC students. Also, everyone who provides pictures (hopefully you!) will receive a free DVD.

Having recently returned from a summer Europe trip, I feel I'm a little behind where I should be in this production and your expedient reply is DEEPLY appreciated. Thanks so much and I look forward to meeting you soon.

Sincerely,

Eric Bauer

OK, troops! The gauntlet has been thrown and the challenge heard. If Eric is willing to undertake this arduous mission, can you be brave enough to challenge the spiders in the garage to retrieve that dusty box of childhood memories? As the teacher said back in the first grade, "sharing is good." -RC
