MISSOULA, Mont. – Meagan Brock, a University of Montana senior in psychology and communication studies, recently was named one of six national Mortar Board student advisers.
Brock grew up in San Gabriel, Calif., and graduated from Temple City High School in Temple City, Calif. She was selected as one of the student advisers by Diane Selby, executive director of the Mortar Board National Office.
Because Brock attended the 2004 Mortar Board National Conference, she was eligible to become a student adviser. Her duties will include planning the 2005 meeting, assisting with programs and activities at the conference and serving as a mentor to incoming Mortar Board advisers.
"Meagan was chosen for her work as a Mortar Board president, her displayed leadership ability, her knowledge of the organization and what is necessary for a chapter to be successful," said Gretchen Smathers, alumni development coordinator for the Mortar Board National Office.
Along with the other five student advisers, Brock will make phone calls to prepare for the national conference. She will travel to Columbus, Ohio, to meet with the other advisers in July.
During the conference Brock will help with programs and activities and answer questions from incoming Mortar Board chapter presidents.
