Time Capsule Project Deadline Approaches

Nov 05, 2005 -- Gene Eggers '67 sent this update on the progress on TCUSD's Temple City Community Time Capsule project: Sic:

1. the engraving on Governor Schwarzenegger's stainless-steel V.I.P. Time Capsule canister is finally completed. The Governor's canister has been sent to our State Capitol to have Assemblyman Dennis Mountjoy present it to Governor Schwarzenegger on behalf of Temple City Unified School District and our resurrected TCUSD 50th Celebration Committee. (On the picture to the left, note the special engraving that our wonderful vendor, Janet Reinhold of Future Packaging & Preservation, had donated along with the Governor's canister).
2. Besides our State Governor contributing his own Time Capsule canister filled with historical memorabilia, just to name a few other notable participates, they are: All TCUSD's public schools; Temple City's government; Los Angeles County government; Temple City's Sheriff's Department (LASD); Saint Luke Catholic Church & parochial school; First Lutheran Church; Temple City High School Alumni Class of 1967 (FYI: see their e-mail message below sent out to fellow classmates).
3. With all local schools, churches, and businesses contributing to this special community project with their own Time Capsule canisters, recently participation was also extended to all Temple City residents (past and present) who want to help support this project by contributing their own individual or family Time Capsule canister. (see attachment for details - PDF file).
4. Temple City Chamber of Commerce has been doing a remarkable publicity campaign getting the word out and to encourage participation in this worthy community project. Moreover, the Chamber of Commerce is the primary contact (Telephone: 626-286-3101 ). As such, if you know any other entity or anyone (local church, business, or present or former Temple City residents) that may want to become a contributing participant, please have them call the Chamber of Commerce as soon as possible. (Especially for the up-coming holidays, this would make a very unique Christmas gift to a family that will always be remembered).
5. Reminders!
-- Unless changed, expectedly in forty-five days all filled Time Capsule canisters are to be delivered to the Temple City Unified School District Administrative Office located at: 9700 Las Tunas Drive, Temple City, CA 91780 (NOTE - Contact person: Lynne Bretz - Administrative Assistant to the Superintendent // FAX: 626-548-5022 // Telephone: 626-548-5120).
-- The TCUSD 50th Celebration Committee members will soon have another meeting (likely sometime this month) with TCUSD Superintendent (Dr. Joan Hillard) to review and determine the project's progress; to consider and make whatever appropriate changes necessary; and to make preparations for placing and securing the collected Time Capsule canisters for final sealing in the special-built in-ground cement storage vault located at Temple City High School.
-- For those preparing their Time Capsule canister with their private collection of distinctive historical items, if your need to purchase additional preservation supplies, contact our designated authorized vendor at: Future Packaging & Preservation, 1580-C W. San Bernardino Rd., Covina CA 91722-3457 // FAX: 626-966-5779 // Website: http://www.futurepkg.com // Telephone: 1-800-786-6627 .
-- As soon as this project is concluded, all collected Time Capsule reservation storage fees will be donated by the TCUSD 50th Celebration Committee to this year's Temple City High School Senior Class in which to help them fund their special school activates and needs.
6. Lastly, accolades and special recognition goes to Lynne Bretz; Janice Helmer; Kathy Keithly; Linda Payne (Temple City Chamber of Commerce's President); to our wonderful and most generous vendor - Janet Reinhold of Future Packaging & Preservation; and most notably. to Dr. Joan Hillard (TCUSD Superintendent) - whose most helpful "hands-on" leadership is now spearheading this wonderful community project on its final leg to successful conclusion.
