Alumni Groups to Cooperate
Called to the principal's office yet again! Linda Wolf Payne '67 (l) and Rees Clark (r) met with TCHS Principal Craig Morgan in August.
|
Aug 19, 2002 --
At the invitation of TCHS Principal Craig Morgan, two groups working on alumni affairs met recently in Temple City and discussed their mutual interests.
The TCHS Alumni Assn., formed during the past two years by Linda Wolfe Payne and Duffy Brooks, among others, has strong connections with organizations like the TC Chamber of Commerce, the school district and other local groups.
TCHS Alumni News Assn. (TCHSANA), which publishes this online magazine and directory, has communications infrastructure and technical capabilities to reach out to the widely distributed alumni community.
All the participants in the meeting agreed that there was substantial synergy and agreed to work together. TCHSANA agreed to contribute part of the proceeds of alumni subscriptions to the marketing efforts of the local association.
TCHS Alumni News will report on this liaison as it develops. All were very hopeful that it will address some of the concerns of Principal Morgan, who is determined to increase the participation of alumni in the school.
Morgan, who has been principal for two years, pointed out that there is very little "history" visible at the campus. During a tour he pointed out the lack of memorabilia, in contrast to other schools.
TCHS Alumni News, as part of its publishing mission, is planning a "virtual museum" of the school, and all alumni are encouraged to contribute stories and photographs. (For information on how you or your class can participate, write to the editor.)

I like the idea of TCHS Alumni participation and was surprised that there is a lack of memorabilia at the school. I'll dig into my archives and see what I can find. Marilyn (Bibler) & Mike Coghlan and Sandra (Finkle) Harris ought to have tons of good stuff from the Class of '57. |

There was a Homecoming Game reunion last year. There wasn't much notice and I'm not sure of the turnout. Class of '68 planned a mini-reunion separate from TCHS Alumni. Is there one planned for this year? If so, we need details so we can spread the word and organize '68 class participation, not to mention all the other classes that might want to participate. It can't be more than three or four weeks off! Class of '68 is ready to cheer Desmond Reed on to another victory!!! |
